As a breakthrough in the cult of exercise as a lifestyle and movement, we are excited to be partnering up with Juliet for the start of this year to get you in the mood to get fit and have some fun whilst looking stylish.

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF?
Since UCL days, I’ve worked my way through interior design and set design for fashion and film, now firmly establishing myself in the health and fitness world with a foot in fashion.
What is VOGA?
VOGA is a fusion of yoga and vogueing, fitness and fashion. It combines the synchronised movement of yoga with the expressive moves of a dance class, bridging the gap between yoga and dance. It encourages you to strike a pose and feel empowered.
The most holistic calorie burning cardio workout out there, VOGA is a hybrid of yoga and vogueing inspired by the power of the pose and the 1980s New York club and ballroom scene. It celebrates both the innovation of yoga and pays homage to this fabulous underground community of voguers, which is having yet another revival via FKA Twigs.

HOW WAS VOGA BORN?
After training as a yoga teacher and teaching my first retreat out in Ibiza, where yoga and dance perfectly co-exist, I became inspired watching films like Paris is Burning and Madonnas songs ‘Vogue’ and ‘Strike a pose’. This, combined with my love for 80’s fashion and my experience working as a set designer for fashion and film made up my mind that there was space for a new expressive form of yoga.
VOGA adds a new emphasis to the power of pose whilst keeping the holistic element. How does it FEEL to be aligned. How does it FEEL if you add a mini embellishment and finesse to the yoga pose. Pretty fabulous!
How does it FEEL to wear BEX ROX weights? It’s all in the EXPERIENCE of the moment.
What’s your idea for the future and where are you now?
Ultimately we’d like a studio in London, Paris and New York which will house all facets of creativity and the arts, a kind of Richmix – Yoga, Music, Dance, Fashion, Theatre, Film, Meditation, Life Coaching etc.
WHO IS VOGA FOR?
It’s for those who like the idea of yoga but would prefer something more upbeat. It’s for creative, expressive souls, children of the 80’s, mothers of the 80’s, dancers, yogis and anyone wanting to bring fun back into their fitness routine. It’s for everyone – all ages, all skills, all fitness levels . VOGA offers you the chance to workout in your most fun outfit while bringing nightlife cool into the realm of sweat and lycra. It’s your time to let go.
DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS/TRICKS FOR VOGA BEGINNERS OUT THERE?
1.FOCUS BUT ENJOY
Firstly, there is the repetitive vogue-style arm movements which require a certain focus and absorption which become almost meditative in their repetition. They are easy to pick up and don’t require too much coordination, but definitely some thought.
2.BREATHE & FEEL
Secondly, there is the breathing, to guide the flow of the moves and feel your way into the physicality of the body, increasing energy flow as you effortlessly strike pose to pose.
3.FEEL THE MUSIC
Thirdly, there is music to assist the absolute immersion into a state of total empowerment, allowing the body to feel 100% right and fabulous!
4.DRESS UP TO SLIM DOWN
This is where the element of fashion and the idea of yoga with style come in. Don’t limit yourself to classic sportswear. There is a world of unique pieces out there and everyone’s style is different. You just need to own it. Style in fashion and style in body language and moves in about claiming it confidently and wholeheartedly!
What would you say to people who don’t know what to wear to VOGA?
I love Ru Pauls saying “We’re all born naked…the rest is drag.” For me this says we’re making a statement by what we choose to wear whether we like it or not. We might as well make a bold and feel good choice! It’s WHATEVER makes YOU FEEL FAB and want to move your body!
Is it an exercise that really gets you toned?
Definitely. It promises to vanquish bingo wings forever with regular sessions. It also targets bums tums and glutes, offering flow sequences on beat, lunges and squats and arm co-ordination. I’ve often been told that the class goes so quickly that they’ve almost haven’t been aware they’ve been exercising. But expect to feel the burn the next day! Inner thighs and biceps will know you’ve had a workout!
DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL STYLE
My personal style is wholeheartedly 80s. Big Bold and glitzy!
